Navigation Audio Plays Through Phone Speaker Instead of Headphones (Android)Updated 7 days ago

Navigation audio in the Apollo Scooters app interrupts music but plays through the phone speaker instead of connected Bluetooth headphones while riding. This occurs on Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, even when Media Output is set correctly. It's typically a phone audio routing issue, not an app problem.

Symptoms

  • Music pauses correctly for navigation prompts.
  • Navigation voice comes from phone speaker, not Bluetooth headphones/earbuds.
  • Affects navigation during rides with headphones connected.

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1: Verify Media Output

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings.
  2. Tap Media output.
  3. Select your connected Bluetooth headphones from the list.

Note: If already set to headphones, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Enable Separate App Sound

  1. Go to Settings > Sounds and vibration.
  2. Tap Separate app sound and turn it on.
  3. Select the Apollo Scooters app (or Google Maps if integrated).
  4. Choose your Bluetooth headphones as the audio device.

This routes navigation audio specifically to headphones while other apps (e.g., music) can use different outputs.

Additional Checks

  • Ensure Bluetooth headphones are fully paired and connected.
  • Test with another navigation app (e.g., Google Maps standalone) to isolate.
  • Restart the Apollo app and phone after changes.
  • Update the Apollo Scooters app via Google Play Store for latest navigation fixes.

Prevention Tips

  • Always check Media Output before rides with multiple audio sources.
  • Use Separate App Sound for consistent app-specific routing.
  • Mount phone securely with Quad Lock for app dashboard visibility during navigation.
