What causes the rubbing noise in the wheels?

The rubbing noise is caused by the drum brake being too tight and requiring adjustment.

  • Check if the noise matches the symptoms shown in the this video
  • Confirm the sound is coming from the rear wheel area
  • Verify the noise occurs during wheel rotation

How do I adjust the drum brakes to fix the noise?

Follow these steps to adjust the drum brakes:

  • Place the scooter on a stand with wheels able to spin freely
  • Completely loosen the drum brake
  • Use the throttle to test spin the wheels
  • Verify that the rubbing sound has stopped
  • Gradually tighten the drum brake in 1/4 turn increments
  • Test with throttle after each adjustment
  • Continue until brake is as tight as possible without producing noise
