Phantom 2.0 Folding Mechanism Latch — Fit Issue and Fix
Overview
This article explains why a replacement folding mechanism latch for the Phantom 2.0 (and Apollo Pro) may appear not to fit, and how to fix it quickly.
What is the issue?
Some users report that the new replacement latch doesn’t fit on the Phantom 2.0 or Apollo Pro frames. The latches are manufactured to the same specification for both models and do fit correctly — the problem is usually caused by the two small black screws being tightened too much, which slightly compresses the latch opening.
Solution
Follow these steps to correct the fit:
- Remove any tension on the latch by loosening the two small black screws slightly.
- Gently align the latch with the hinge opening.
- If needed, tap the latch lightly into place using a small plastic or rubber mallet (or a wooden dowel and a light tap) until it seats fully.
- Once the latch is seated correctly, tighten the two black screws evenly and securely — do not overtighten. Tighten them just enough to hold the latch without compressing the opening.
