LUDO Mode on the Apollo GoUpdated 40 minutes ago

Ludo Mode is a high-performance riding mode that unlocks your Apollo Go's full speed and acceleration potential. Originally introduced on the Apollo Pro, Ludo Mode came to the Go lineup starting with the 2024 model — delivering sharper throttle response.

If Ludo Mode doesn't appear to work on your scooter, the most likely cause is a firmware version that doesn't yet support it. This is common on early Apollo Go 2024 units and is resolved through a firmware update via the Apollo App.

⚠️ Disclaimer: Apollo advises compliance with local speed regulations. Always ride within the legal limits for your area.

How to Activate Ludo Mode

There are two ways to activate Ludo Mode on the Apollo Go.

Method 1 — Power Button (Quick Tap)

  1. Turn on your scooter.
  2. Press the power button 3 times quickly in succession.
  3. The display will confirm that Ludo Mode is active.

To deactivate, press the power button 3 times quickly again to return to standard speed modes.

Method 2 — Apollo App

  1. Open the Apollo App and connect to your scooter.
  2. Navigate to your scooter settings.
  3. Select Advanced Settings.
  4. Enable Ludo Mode from the available options.

Note: To reach your scooter's full top speed in Ludo Mode, make sure the speed limit in the app is also set to its maximum. Go to Advanced Settings → Top Speed Limit and increase it to the highest value.

Before You Ride in Ludo Mode

Ludo Mode removes the standard speed cap. Before your first Ludo Mode ride, confirm the following in the Apollo App:

  • Set your Sport mode speed to maximum.
  • Set the Top Speed Limit in Advanced Settings to maximum.
  • Ludo Mode must be active for the scooter to reach its full configured top speed.

Troubleshooting

Ludo Mode is not activating with the power button

The most common reason Ludo Mode doesn't respond on the Apollo Go 2024 is an outdated firmware version. Early production units shipped without Ludo Mode enabled at the firmware level.

Fix: Update your firmware via the Apollo App

  1. Download or open the Apollo App on your phone.
  2. Pair your scooter if it isn't already connected.
  3. Navigate to your scooter in the app and check for available firmware updates.
  4. Install any pending update and restart the scooter.
  5. Try activating Ludo Mode again using the 3-tap power button sequence.

The mode activates but the scooter doesn't feel faster

If Ludo Mode activates but your top speed doesn't increase, your in-app speed limit settings are likely still capped.

Fix:

  1. Open the Apollo App and connect to your scooter.
  2. Go to Settings → Sport Mode and set the speed to its maximum value.
  3. Go to Advanced Settings → Top Speed Limit and increase it to maximum.
  4. Re-engage Ludo Mode and test.

The Apollo App won't connect or update

If the app fails to connect or the firmware update won't complete, try the following:

  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled and your phone is within range.
  • In your phone's Bluetooth settings, forget the scooter and re-pair it.
  • Remove the scooter from My Devices in the Apollo App, then re-add it.
  • Disable battery optimization for the Apollo App in your phone settings so it can run in the background.
  • Restart both your phone and scooter, then attempt the update again.

Known Limitations

  • App-enabled scooters only: Ludo Mode requires a firmware-capable scooter paired with the Apollo App. If your scooter is not app-compatible, Ludo Mode is not available.
  • Apollo Go 2024 — production batch dependency: Some early Go 2024 units shipped without Ludo Mode support at the firmware level. A firmware update through the app is required to unlock it.
  • Speed settings must be configured separately: Activating Ludo Mode alone does not automatically unlock your full top speed. In-app speed limit settings must also be adjusted.
  • Ludo Mode resets on power cycle: On some units, Ludo Mode may need to be re-activated after the scooter is powered off and back on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My Apollo Go 2024 doesn't have Ludo Mode — is my scooter defective? A: Not necessarily. Early Go 2024 production units shipped without firmware support for Ludo Mode. Updating to the latest firmware via the Apollo App should enable it. If the update doesn't resolve the issue, reach out to Apollo support.

Q: Does Ludo Mode work without the app? A: Yes — once your firmware is up to date, Ludo Mode can be toggled with 3 quick presses of the power button, no app required. However, you will need the app to configure your top speed settings and to install firmware updates.

Q: Will using Ludo Mode affect my warranty? A: Ludo Mode is an official, built-in feature. Using it as designed does not affect your warranty.

Q: Is Ludo Mode available on older Apollo Go models? A: Ludo Mode is only available on the Apollo Go 2024 and 2025. It is not available on earlier versions of the Apollo Go.

Q: Is Ludo Mode legal to use? A: This depends on your local regulations. Apollo advises riders to comply with all applicable speed laws. Always check the rules in your area before riding at top speed.
