Explore 2.0 Headlight/Stem Light Dim or Not Turning Off
If your Explore 2.0 headlight or stem light is dim, won't turn off, or doesn't respond properly to controls, try updating the firmware first. This resolves the issue for many riders as it's a known firmware-related behavior fixed in the latest update.
Symptoms
- Headlight and/or stem light stays on constantly, even when turned off via the display.
- Lights appear dim or brightness is inconsistent.
- Lights do not respond reliably to button presses (mode button or app controls).
First Solution: Update Firmware
Most cases are fixed by installing the latest firmware via the Apollo app:
- Download the Apollo Scooters app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
- Turn on Bluetooth, pair your Explore 2.0 scooter with the app, and ensure it's powered on.
- Check for updates in the app settings – download and install any available firmware. Keep the scooter powered on and connected during the process.
- After updating, power-cycle the scooter (turn off completely, wait 10 seconds, turn back on).
- Test the lights:
- Press the mode (M) button once quickly to toggle the headlight.
- Press twice quickly for stem/ambient lights.
