E7 Error CodeUpdated 6 days ago
Description
The display shows an E7 error indicating a fault detected from the motor hall sensor. The scooter powers on but will not respond to inputs or accelerate. In dual-motor models, only one motor may spin or the affected motor may lock.
Symptoms
- Scooter turns on with a persistent E7 code on the display
- Will respond to button presses but no throttle input
- Scooter will not accelerate
- Motor feels locked or “cogged”
- On dual-motor models, only one motor spins
Causes
- Damaged or pinched motor phase/hall sensor wire or connector
- Internal motor hall sensor failure or magnet damage
- Controller fault or damaged hall sensor input stage
Troubleshooting Steps
- Perform a motor calibration and power cycle the scooter.
- Inspect the motor cable along the fork/arm and deck for cuts, kinks, or crushed sections.
- Reseat and clean motor and controller connectors; check for bent pins or corrosion.
- Hand-rotate the wheel to detect internal grinding or cogging unrelated to bearings.
- On dual-motor models, swap motor connections at the controller; see if issue moves to the other motor.
Solution
The issue is typically caused by a damaged hall sensor wire or a failed motor hall sensor; in some cases, the controller’s hall input stage fails.
- Run motor calibration (See this video)
- Inspect and reseat motor and controller connectors; repair any damaged wiring
- If grinding or internal binding is felt when hand-rotating, replace the motor
- On dual-motor models, swap motor leads to isolate the fault
- If the fault follows the motor, replace the motor
- If the fault stays with the controller side, replace the controller
