E5 Error CodeUpdated 6 days ago
Description
The issue is typically caused by an undercharged battery or a BMS undervoltage protection event.
Symptoms
- Scooter turns on briefly, then powers off.
- E5 error appears momentarily on the display before shutdown.
- Scooter will not power on at all in some cases.
Possible Causes
- Battery is fully depleted and below recovery voltage.
- Battery Management System (BMS) protection is engaged due to undervoltage.
- Loose or oxidized battery-to-controller connectors causing voltage drop.
- Faulty charger or charge port preventing proper charging.
- Degraded battery cells (capacity loss or imbalance).
Troubleshooting Steps
- Charge the scooter continuously for 6–8 hours until the charger LED indicates full, then test power-on.
- Check charger output and charge port for proper function and secure connection.
- Measure battery pack voltage at the discharge leads; confirm it meets model specifications.
- Power off, unplug the battery from the controller for 2–3 minutes to reset the BMS, then reconnect and test.
- Inspect battery and controller connectors for looseness, corrosion, or heat damage; reseat and secure.
- If voltage is low or drops rapidly under load, the battery is likely failing; service or replace the battery.
- If battery is healthy but E5 remains, test the controller and replace if faulty.
Solution
- Charge the scooter to 100% uninterrupted, then attempt to power on.
- Verify the charger LED behaviour; if the LED never turns green, test or replace the charger.
- Inspect and reseat battery and controller power connectors; clean and secure as needed.
- Briefly disconnect the battery from the controller to allow the BMS to reset, then reconnect and test.
- If pack voltage remains low after full charge or E5 persists, evaluate the battery health; replace the battery if degraded.
- If the battery tests good and E5 persists, test/replace the controller.
