I received a tracking number but it isn't valid/hasn't been scanned - what's going on?Updated a month ago

Your Shipping Tracking Number: What to Expect

You've received your tracking number, but it might not work immediately. This guide explains why and what to do.

Understanding Your Tracking Number

When your order is ready to ship, you'll get an email with your tracking number. It might look something like this:

Why Your Tracking Number Might Not Work at First

It's common for tracking numbers not to show any information in the carrier's system right away. This happens because:

  • System Lag: It takes time for the tracking number to be registered in the shipping carrier's (like UPS) database.
  • Initial Scan Required: The tracking information usually only becomes active after your package is scanned at a UPS facility. This often happens in the evening.
  • High Shipping Volume: During busy periods, many packages are processed at once. This can lead to delays in the initial scan and updates to the tracking system. The carrier might not acknowledge receiving your package until this first scan.

What to Expect

Don't worry if your tracking number doesn't show updates immediately. It typically becomes active and provides tracking details within 1 to 3 business days after you receive the email.

What to Do If Your Tracking Stays Invalid

If it's been several business days and your tracking number still isn't showing any updates, it's time to reach out.
