📦 Unboxing and Setup: Apollo City

Setting up your Apollo City is the most crucial step for ensuring your safety and enjoyment. This article will guide you through the unboxing and assembly process, including a vital safety test before your first ride.

📦 Unboxing Your Scooter

Before you start, we recommend having a box cutter or knife, a stool or bench, an air pump, and someone to help you with the process.

  1. Open the Box: Use the box cutter to open the box and fold back the top.

  2. Verify Contents: Inside, you should find protective styrofoam and the following items:

    • Apollo City electric scooter

    • Manual

    • Charger and cable

    • Hex key

    • Screw Kit

  3. Remove Scooter: With help, remove the scooter from the box and place it on a flat surface, ideally a stool or bench so the wheels can spin freely for later testing.

  4. Remove Protective Material: Carefully take off the protective material.

    • Keep the styrofoam and box in case you need to ship your scooter back. Otherwise, recycle the materials.

If any of these items are missing, contact the support team immediately.

🛠️ Assembly and Unfolding

Unfolding the Scooter

  1. Unhook the Stem: Ensure the hook is not clipped into the rear foot rest. If it is, push down on the stem and unhook it.

  2. Unfold the Stem: Pull the stem into a fully vertical position.

  3. Lock the Latch: Locate the folding latch and pull it up to lock the stem. This may require some force to fully lock upright.

  4. Secure the Safety Button: Make sure the safety button of the folding mechanism is clipped into the stem. This mechanism prevents the latch from unlocking due to vibrations.

🛑 WARNING: Always check that the safety button is clipped into the stem and the stem is fully secured before every ride. Failure to do so can lead to the stem coming undone, resulting in loss of control and serious injury.

Attach the Handlebar

  1. Connect Cables: Remove the four hex screws from the handlebars. Connect the male cable coming from the handlebar into the female cable coming from the front stem, ensuring the pins are aligned.

    • Caution: Be careful not to damage the cable during this step.

  2. Insert and Screw: Insert the handlebar at the top of the front stem and tighten it into place using the four hex screws provided.

  3. Adjust Control Panels: The latches and buttons (throttle, mode, turn signals) are intentionally loose. Adjust the left and right panels by twisting them up or down until they are at a comfortable angle for riding. Keep in mind you'll be higher up when standing on the scooter.

  4. Tighten Screws: Once the positions are comfortable, tighten the screws on the left and right-hand side.

✅ Post-Assembly Safety Test

Perform these steps before you ride to ensure everything is working correctly. Keep the scooter elevated on the stool or bench for the motor and wheel tests.

1. Power On and Motor Test

  1. Power On: Locate the power button on the right side of the handlebar and press it for 3 seconds to turn on the display.

  2. Motor Test: Since the scooter starts in Kick to Start mode, manually spin the wheels and then press the throttle (right side). The wheels should begin to spin normally.

    • Note: You may hear a noise at low speeds; this is normal as the motor communicates with the controller.

🛑 WARNING: If you notice one of the motors is not spinning, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPERATE THE SCOOTER. Contact the support team immediately.

2. Brake Test

  1. Accelerate: Press the throttle on the right side and accelerate for about 5 seconds.

  2. Brake: Release the throttle and immediately engage both brakes (left and right levers) at the same time. The wheels should stop immediately.

3. Gear and Light Test

  1. Change Gear: Quickly press the Power Button twice to cycle through the speed levels (gears):

    • 1st Gear - Eco mode: The brake light will blink, and the headlight will turn on.

    • 2nd Gear - Comfort mode: A second double-click should display a Green "S" on the screen.

    • 3rd Gear - Sport mode: Another double-click should display a Red "S" on the screen.

  2. Test Lights: Press the Mode button (M) (left side) to turn on the lights.

  3. Confirm All Lights: Confirm that the headlight and the rear tail light both power on.

🛑 WARNING: If all of the lights do not power on, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPERATE THE SCOOTER. Contact the support team immediately.

4. Turn Signal Test

  1. Right Signal: Press the arrow button on the right side of the handlebar. The right signals should turn on. Click the button again to turn them off.

  2. Left Signal: Press the arrow button on the left side of the handlebar. The left signals should turn on. Click the button again to turn them off.

5. Tire Pressure Check

  1. Locate Valve: Grab an air pump and locate the air valve on the front tire. Remove the safety cap.

  2. Check PSI: Attach the pump tube to the valve and read the pressure. The ideal tire pressure is 45 PSI.

  3. Inflate/Deflate: Inflate or deflate the tire as needed until the pressure is exactly 45 PSI.

  4. Repeat: Repeat this process for the rear tire.

Congratulations! Your Apollo City is now set up and ready to ride. If you had any difficulties, refer to the video walk-through in the beginning of this article.
